Key Initiative: Health For Reme

The Health for Reme program, spearheaded by DG3's Health Governance department, is dedicated to empowering pregnant women, mothers, and caregivers with accessible and relevant healthcare information. We aim to bridge the gap in online health knowledge and provide support that is both tailored and culturally sensitive.

We achieve this through two main strategies:
24/7 Online Health Forum:
Our platform offers round-the-clock access to healthcare professionals who provide essential health information and answers to questions that may not require a hospital visit. This ensures continuous support and guidance for our beneficiaries.

Quarterly Family Health Camps:
These camps are designed to strengthen mental and physical support networks for mothers and families. They also serve to enhance the capabilities of local health extension community workers, ensuring sustained positive health outcomes within communities.

Mid Year Impact Summary

We're thrilled to share the mid-year impact of our Health for Reme program in Cameroon's Northwest and Southwest Regions! From expanding community reach to boosting antenatal care engagement and the growing confidence in online health learning. These numbers reflect the empowerment of pregnant women, mothers, and families.

The Family Camp workshops was a powerful reminder of both our impact and the persistent challenges faced by healthcare in the Northwest and Southwest Regions. We grappled with logistical barriers including insecurity and poor infrastructure, alongside deeply-rooted cultural beliefs impacting antenatal care acceptance, and a clear need for increased male engagement.
Resource scarcity, limited health personnel, and weak referral systems further underscored areas for growth. Moreover, digital literacy and internet access continue to be significant hurdles for online learning.
